Disney trip for a Foodie

Our main summer vacation was spent at Disney World last week and I tried several new restaurants and some familiar ones also.

After a stop at the Florida visitor center for some free juice and a trip to an old favorite Red Lobster. My first Disney meal was at the All Star Movie resort and I opted for the $5.50 kids meal which included Mickey ear waffles and bacon and grapes and a Chocolate milk from the food court .


we left the park to have some lunch at one of my favs the Earl of Sandwich to try the Holiday sandwich that was added to the year round menu. It has turkey dressing and cranberry and gravy and was very tasty. Sorry no pics I ate it to fast

We had our first meal in the park at a counter service place in Hollywood Studios called Fairfax Fare. I ordered ribs and chicken. The ribs we a bit on the tough side and I dropped one on my shirt trying to separate them. We did buy a Darth Vader cupcake at this location location that was amazing. It was dark chocolate with peanut butter filling.


The next day we went to the new Be Our Guest restaurant lunch counter service at Magic Kingdom and we had reservations for the German Biergarten for dinner in Epcot. The Be our guest has a uniquely french menu for a counter serve restaurant. 






We had a Cast member friend join us that day who recommended the grilled ham and cheese (Croque Monsieur Sandwich) which was really good. my wife has a Mahi Mahi kids meal and loved it, our son got the Grilled Steak Sandwich and was not happy with the taste and I seconded that after tasting it also, He did like my Grilled ham and cheese though.

Then we stopped in Gaston's Tavern for a LeFou's Brew which is a frozen apple drink that my wife liked very much.

We were off the the German themed Biergarten. We were blown away with the variety and quality of food here.

We thought this might be our new favorite place to eat but the next night gave it a challenge

The next day we had Reservation at Kona for a return trip to get the wonderful Big Kahuna breakfast platter

Then that night was the long awaited Ohana, I have been trying to get in here for years and finally saw a opening on the Disney reservation website











The Ohana meal starts with a Pineapple Bread and a salad with chunks of passion fruit and mandarins on it. Then a plate of wings and Pork fried dumplings. A bowl of veggies and noodles is brought out then the meat starts arriving. A skewer of Shrimp, then Pork, Chicken, and Steak is served in a all you can eat style at your table. All of it was great, I would say we like the shrimp least of all. You will also want to save room for dessert which is bread pudding a la mode with Banana Foster sauce.

We also took a trip a Orange grove called Showcase of Citrus to ride on a Monster truck Eco tour. While we were there i found a tasty refreshment called  the orange Juice Slushy.


  Our last reservation was at the House of Blues. We have a nice view of the lake. I ordered a Hurricane drink that was good and the fried chicken that was kinda bland. The side salad for 2.99 was good with added bacon and the burger and ribs were also very good.

My son talked me into a late night Pizza run and one of my fav pizza places that started in Chicago Giordanos.
