McGuire's Irish Pub of Destin, FL

I hope I don’t jinx this but I must say after eating here several times, I have not had a bad meal at McGuires in Destin or Pensacola. Lets start with a few photos of the building.

The décor inside is very pub or bar like with dollar bills stapled all over the ceiling and walls, but the food is the real star here.

I shared this BREWER'S SAUSAGE PLATE on out last trip and we could not eat it all even though it was sooo good. there was a Bratwurst, Italian, Polish, and a Chorizo and the entre comes with a beer included.

The Beer and root beer are local and how can you pass up a 18 cent Senate Bean soup.

This was the Chicken salad we got on the previous trip for Lunch. It was so good we had people come from across the isle asking what it was and saying they want to try it.

Pie Five Nashville, TN

I picked up a gift cert online for Pie Five so I figured its worth a try on my way to Opry Mills mall one night. This is one of the new quick serve gourmet pizza joints that are popping up everywhere. The have a large selection of toppings and you can pick your own or go with the recommended combinations.

We settled on our choices and here is what we ended up with

My son went with a half Peperoni half Sausage with spicy sauce and he said he will be back for more. The wifey went with regular sauce and artichoke mushroom and sausage, she liked it but thought the sausage was a little spicy. I went with a Chicken Alfredo Artichoke that was very good.

Andy’s Flour Power Panama City Beach, FL

20141213_104153
While on a recent weekend getaway to so-called “Redneck Riviera” or Panama City Beach I did some research for a good made from scratch breakfast place and this one fits the bill.
20141213_09212220141213_09213820141213_092155
Andy’s has a nice menu with just enough choices and not to much so that its hard to manage.
My wife wanted just Strawberries and oranges in her cup of fruit and we were surprised when they brought out fresh cut Florida oranges and what appeared to be fresh strawberries.

I went for the eggs with toast (which was delicious fresh made bread) and fresh fried potatoes and Bacon.

I expected a sixties theme with a name like Flour Power but it was actually more of a French bakery look. We ended up coming back to get a Chocolate and a Pistachio Muffin.

Afterword's we made a trip next door to the local Farmers Market.

Give Andy’s a try, we talked to Andy and he is ready for more customers and is embracing the online community.

Willie Mae’s Springfield, TN

While doing some work in Springfield, TN I was getting hungry and just left the downtown area and when I rounded a corner I noticed a lady exiting a building with a to go order of food. I looked at the building and saw the Willie Mae’s BBQ sign. After a quick check on some review sites like UrbanSpoon and noticing almost all were 5 star I decided to turn around and give it a try. When you walk in the door you will notice that they used a Hickory Smoker, if you don’t smell it you will see it right behind the front counter.

I opted for the Brisket sandwich toped with coleslaw and with a side of Mac and Cheese

Willie Maes Springfield (1)

The Brisket was thick and juicy with a good smoked flavor and the Mac and Cheese was very cheesy I would definitely go back for more.

I had a nice talk to one of the owners and she said the stage in the back corner was one of the few things left from the previous owners.

Demos a tradition of good food in the Nashville area

You are in for treat when you visit Demos. I will say our first trip there I just had Spaghetti and was not that impressed, then I returned after many recommendations and found many reasons to love the food. The food here is hand made and fresh and the prices are vary reasonable.

I notice Mr. Demos himself ordered this Oven Baked chicken and I had to try it, and it did not disappoint, it’s really juicy and savory.

This is my wife's favorite. It's Chicken salad in a half Pineapple, I like to share it with her sometimes

Here is my son eating the Steak, he could not wait for me to get a picture, he loves it that much. My brother, who travels a lot, calls it of of the best steak deals in the country.

Evansville West Side Nut Club Fall Festival

One of Evansville biggest and oldest events is the Fall Festival, It is more of a food festival than anything but there are carnival rides and games too. It is considered the second largest street festival in the country. If you search for the munchie map or the wise choice map you will get something like this that shows a map of the food booths so you can plan your attack http://www.courierpress.com/news/local-news/west-side-nut-club-releases-2014-fall-festival-muchie-map

We went back the next day for dessert. The Smore on a stick was not so good but the Buckeyes were nice, it is peanut butter wrapped in chocolate. I can’t wait to go back next year and maybe try some catfish or a stromboli.
